Martin Gilbertson Dies At the Age of 81 Years
Martin Gilbertson, 81, one of the old time citizens of Monona County, passed away at the home of Martin Kalskett Saturday, March 17th after an illness of many months. He had lived in the Soldier and Moorhead vicinities for many years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Soldier south Church. Pastor John C Kilde gave the sermon. Burial was in the Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Oldham Funeral Home.

Martin Gilbertson, son of Andrew and Betsy Gilbertson, was born at Argyle, Wisconsin, August 5th 1874 and passed away March 17th 1856 at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 12 days.

He had been a resident of Monona County for over fifty years and spent the last three years at the home of his nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kalskett, where he passed away.

He was baptized in the Adams Lutheran Church at Springdale, Wis. and remained true to that faith.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Brown, Gilbert, Allen and Harry and three sisters, Pauline, Thompson, Louisa Kalskett and Augusta Starr. Left to mourn his passing are one sister, Lena and many nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Ancel Gilbertson, Glen Thoreson, Warren and Herman Kalskett, James Kalskett and Maynard Olson.
