ONAWA, Iowa - Opal Dortha Deen, 91, of Onawa, formerly of Whiting, Iowa, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Burgess Health Center in Omawa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Congregational Church in Whiting with the Rev. Earle R. Potts officiating. Burial will be in Hite Cemetery in Whiting. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Deen was born April 7, 1909, in Shelton, Neb., the daughter of Bert C. and Edna (Lough) Dean. She graduated from Shelton High School. She married Darrell J. Deen on Jan. 1, 1928 in Shelton. They moved to a farm northwest of Whiting. In 1962, they moved into Whiting. He died June 6, 1981 in Onawa.

She was a member of First Congregational Church.

Survivors include two sons, Billy and his wife, Marcena and Darrell, all of Whiting; a daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Alton Morton of Whiting; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alta and her husband, Wesley Kensinger of Grand Island, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Helen Deen of Sloan; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Virginia Mae; a sister, Nora Waite; two brothers, Ervin and Denman Dean; two infant brothers; a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Deen; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Deen.
