22 August 1935Dan Funkhouser was born in Appanoose County, Ohio, October 13, 1852 and passed away at his home, August 18, 1935 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 5 days. He was the second son of Sarah Ellen and Joshua Funkhouser.
He came with his parents to Bartlett, Iowa when a small child. At 20 years of age he was united in marriage to Flora Bean in 1875, 12 years later he moved to Monona County where he has resided since that time. To this union was born 4 children, one dying in infancy. The ones who survive are, Charles, of Whiting; Mrs Anna Huffman of Decatur and Mrs Pearl Anderson of Whiting, Ia. He is also survived by 25 grand children; 19 great grandchildren and 3 brothers, Jim of Whiting; Chas of Nebraska and Ed of Kansas. Besides a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00. Rev Orval E Walker of Onawa was in charge. Burial was made in the Harrison Cemetery.
