Death of Mrs J R Carhart

The death of Mrs J R Carhart took place at a hospital in Chicago, Thursday, Oct 10, following an operation for internal cancer. She was accompanied to Chicago by her husband, who arrived here Saturday morning with the remains.

The funeral took place Monday. There was a short service at the house participated in by the Rebeleah lodge of this place, of which deceased was a member. A prayer was offered by Mr J R Ridley, of Onawa. The remains were taken to Whiting, the former home of deceased. The funeral was held in that place from the M.E. Church at 2 p.m. The service were conducted by Rev Croker, an old friend of deceased who was assisted by Rev Mahood, of Onawa. About twenty relatives were in attendance from this place. The interment was in the Whiting Cemetery, beside her first husband and a deceased daughter.

Elizabeth Ellen Logan was born in Williams County, Ohio in 1851 at Fremont, Indiana, in 1873 she was united in marriage to Edward Seitzinger. To this union were born, Five children, four sons and one daughter, as follows; Lester of Hornick, Iowa; Bert of Blencoe, Iowa; Herman of Roundup, Montana; John of Mapleton and Lulu, deceased.

Mr Seitzinger, died Oct 11, 1901 and Jan 16, 1907, Mrs Seitzinger was married to James G Carhart of Mapleton.

There were present from out of town, besides the sons above mentioned, and wives of Herman and Lester, also Mr and Mrs W.H. Kinsley of Onawa; and Mrs Lettie Schreeves and daughter of Pender, Nebraska.
