Donald W. Lawrence, age 78 of Mapleton, Iowa died Monday, December 20, 2004 in Sioux City, Iowa.

A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton, Iowa.

Donald Wayne Lawrence was born March 31, 1926, in Jefferson Township at Blockton, Iowa, the son of Edward and Kate (Smith) Lawrence. On June 28, 1947, he was united in marriage to Doris Mae Smith at Bedford, Iowa. The couple lived at Blockton for a time and later moved the family to Onawa, Iowa. They moved to Sioux City in 1981 and then to Mapleton in 1989. Doris died July 27, 2000.

Survivors include five sons, Dennis and his wife, Cathy, of Onawa, Iowa, Don and his wife, Rhonda, David and his fiance', Debra Kay Hansel, and Dan and his wife, Julie, all of Mapleton, Iowa, and Duane of Sioux City; three daughters, Sue Richardson and her husband, Ed, of LeMars, Iowa, Donna Mae Golden and her husband, Mike, of Castana, Iowa, and Sally Lawrence also of LeMars; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and one brother, Jerry and his wife, Corine, of Blockton, Iowa.

Along with his wife, Donald was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one grandson, Ryan Lawrence.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
