Marcellus G. Wolterman, age 86 of Mapleton, Iowa and formerly of Danbury died Saturday, December 18, 2004 in Mapleton.

Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton with Msgr. Mark Duchaine officiating.

Marcellus Garhart Wolterman was born May 11, 1918 to Peter J. and Teresa (Ortner) Wolterman. He graduated from Danbury Catholic High School in 1936. On February 25, 1941, he married Mary G. McGarr. They farmed in the Danbury area until 1982 when they retired and moved to Mapleton.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Mary and seven children, Pete Wolterman and his wife, Jan, Paul Wolterman and his wife, Judy, Linda Aiken and her husband, Fred, Fanchon Dirksen and her husband, Fred, Morna Levatino and her husband, Tony, Mark Wolterman and his wife, Sherrie, and Marcine Burns and her husband, Keith; 12 grandchildren, Patty Manthorne, Julie Butterworth, Adam and David Dirksen, Brian and Debbie Aiken, Joseph and Marcie Levatino, Kent Fredrickesen, Mitchel Wolterman, and Mariah and Tara McLeran; six great grandchildren, Ashley and Alex Gosch, Carter Manthorne, Emma Butterworth, and Gabbrielle and Dannielle Mellott.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Marsha, three grandchildren, Mike, Marlys, and Cheryl Wolterman, and one great grandson, Tyler Michael Gosch.

All memorials should be sent to the Danbury Catholic School in Danbury.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
