Ruby Mildred "Dolly" Arndt, 61, Castana, Iowa, entered into the Kingdom of heaven, after her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Saturday, March 13, 2004, at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Dolly was born October 20, 1942 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Willard and Helen (Collins) Docken. She lived her childhood life in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School.

She married H. John Arndt July 4, 1960 and to this union they were blessed with three wonderful children, Scott E., Johnny L. and Judith D.

She worked at Maple Heights Nursing Home and later at Mapleton Trust and Savings Bank at Mapleton where she made many friends during the years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter and sister and loved her family dearly.

Those living in God's grace of time are her husband of 43 years, H.J. Arndt; two children, Scott E. Arndt and his wife, Linda of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Judith Krohn and her husband, Roger of Mapleton; a daughter-in-law, Karen Arndt of Sioux City; ten grandchildren; a brother, Monte Butler of San Francisco, California; a sister, Christine Baker of Moorhead, Iowa; her step-father, Kenny Butler of Onawa and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny; her parents; a brother, Steve Docken and a sister Pat McArthur.

Services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with Pastor Scott Fiege officiating. Music selections were the congregation singing, "Rock of Ages", "I Am But A Stranger Here" and "Amazing Grace". Karen Krusen was the organist. Interment was in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation was 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church. The family was present 6:00 to 8:00. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Casket bearers were Dick Schleis, Leo Dean, Bill Hagerdon, Don Kuehl, Gary Thies and Ed Henkenius. Honorary bearers were Phil Melby, Gene Triplett and Brian Hanson.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or the American Cancer Society.
