Services were held Thursday, August 5, 2004 for Clare Victoria Owens who passed away in Santa Cruz, California, on August 2, 2004. She was 94 years old.

She was born and raised in Iowa, attended Mapleton High School and Wayne State Teachers College. In her earlier years Clare taught school and later worked for North Western Bell as an operator. She has lived in Santa Cruz County since 1965.

Clare was a member of Resurrection Church and Valley Gardens Ladies Golf Club. She was an excellent golfer and many times past club champion. She also enjoyed her rose garden and restoring furniture.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Owens of Santa Cruz and Stephen Owens of Los Gatos. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Clare is preceded in death by her husband, Hugo Owens in 1992 and her sister, Grace Yowell

A Memorial Mass was held on Thursday, August 5, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Church in Aptos, California. A private inurnment took place in Los Gatos Memorial Park, San Jose, California.
