Robert Edward Nutt, 86, Castana, Iowa died Sunday, August 15, 2004 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

Robert was born January 26, 1918 at Castana, Iowa, the son of Robert VanBuren and Betty Alice (McCall) Nutt. He graduated from Castana High School and then went on to farm in the Castana area.

He also worked as an engineer for the Soil Conservation Service for 27 years until his retirement. He was a member of Ticonic United Methodist Church and Castana Community Church. He married Patricia Donscheski December 28, 1991.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Nutt of Dunlap; four daughters and their husbands, Roberta "Bobbie" and Gary Geersen of Denver, Colorado, Beverly Ann and Russell Lambries of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Claudia and Hillis Mathis of Kernard, Nebraska and Connie and Kevin Dehmlow of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; six step-children, Jack Spencer, Jeanne Ehlers, Joan Littleton, Janet McCold, Robert Donscheski, and Terry Donscheski; grandchildren, Dawn Geersen, Patty Peters, Pam Snyder, Steve Headley, Mike Headley, Kara Dehmlow, Scott Spencer, Blake Spencer, Todd Ehlers, Heather Stevens, Jerod Petersen, Tricia Littleton, Keri Winsick, Traci Brasher, Shawn Dumaoal, Jeremy McCold, Jerod McCold, Nicholas Donscheski, Ryan Donscheski, Kayla Donscheski, Jesse Donscheski, Justin Donscheski and Cory Donscheski; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William F. Nutt of Sioux City, and Ernest "Hickory" Nutt of Castana and a sister, Eileen Reed of Onawa, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Louise Villeneuve.

Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Ticonic United Methodist Church with Pastor Fred Pilecki officiating. Music selections were solos: "Amazing Grace" provided by Teniesha Kessler and "The Pilgrim" and "Life's Railway to Heaven" provided by Jerry Kessler. Deb Kessler was organist and Teniesha Kessler was violinist. Visitation was 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Care Service, Onawa. Burial was in Kennebec Cemetery at Castana.

Casket bearers were Bob Donscheski, Terry Donscheski, Steven Headley, Michael Headley, Hillis Mathis, Kevin Dehmlow, Jim Peters and Mike Petersen.

Rush Family Care Service of Onawa was in charge of arrangements.
