ONAWA, Iowa - Mildred I. Kron, 86, of Onawa died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Pleasant View Nursing home in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Richard P. Layman officiating. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery at Ticonic, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Kron was born April 21, 1912, in rural Onawa, the daughter of Reas and Emma Jane (Butcher) Ingram. She attended school in Onawa.

She married Merle Hoyt Deloss Kron April 2, 1932, in Elk Point, S.D. He died in 1962 in an automobile accident. The couple lived in the Monona County area most of their lives, working as farm laborers.

Mrs. Kron was employed as a cook at the E&R Cafe and in the laundry at Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa. She attended the United Methodist Church in Onawa.

Survivors include three daughters, Anna Marie Flint and her husband, Rex, of Little Sioux, Iowa, Reva Baxter of Mondamin, Iowa, and Phyllis Stevens and her husband, Leo, of Mondamin; two sons, Gary Kron of Battle Creek, Iowa, and Mike Kron and his wife, Barb, of Sioux City; two daughters-in-law, Marie Hamilton of Tulsa, Okla., and Dorothy Schoba of Manilla, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Dale Kron of Whiting, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Alice Kron of Onawa; 28 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Merle Clifford Kron and Leo Kron; two daughters, Edna Louise Lenning and Betty Lou Gallup; two sons-in-law, Paul Gallup and Kenny Baxter; six brothers, Roy, Willis, Ivy, Elmer, Harold and Clifford; three sisters, Goldie, Mable and Olive; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
