Dr H.P. (NIck) Nickolisen, 75, of Rodney, Iowa, died Saturday, May 10, 1997 at Mesa Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, AZ, after a lengthy illness. He formely resided at 3051 Valley Drive, Sioux City, Iowa

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 1997 at the United Church of Christ in Rodney, Iowa. The Rev Karen Handke, Pastor of the Rodney United Church of Christ and the Rev Gary DeGreest of Charilton, Iowa will officate. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, Rodney, Iowa. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. with the family in attendance.

Hubert Parker Nickolisen was born July 29, 1921 near Rodney, Iowa, the son of Hubert and Anna (Jensen) Nickolisen. He attended school in Rodney, Iowa and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1938. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Iowa in 1943 and his D.D.S. Degree in 1944. He served with the U.S. Navy Dental Corps until 1945. He went on to a residency in Oral Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals, completing this in 1946. He practiced Oral Surgery from 1946 until 1984 in Sioux City, Iowa and retired to Mesa, Arizona.

He married Norma M Niklason, August 25, 1944 in San Diego, CA at the Naval Training Center.

At the University of Iowa he was asked to be a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society. He was a member of the Sioux City Dental Society, the Northwestern District Dental Society and the Iowa Society of Oral Surgeons and served as president of all three of these associations. He was active with the Miswestern Society of Oral Surgeons, the American Society of Oral Surgeons and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was a Life Member of the Iowa Dental Association and also the American Dental Association. He was affilated with the Marion Health Center Department of Surgery and on staff when it was known as St Joseph's Mercy Hospital and st Vincent Hospital. He was also on the Honorary Medical Staff (and Department of Surgery) at St Lukes Regional Medical
