TICONIC, Iowa -- Glen R. Skow, 78, of Ticonic died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. following a sudden illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Revs. Shirley Textor and Louis Aitken officiating. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery, near Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Glen was born Feb. 26, 1923, near Grant Center, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Anna (Jensen) Skow. He attended Rodney Independent School for 10 years and graduated from Hornick (Iowa) High School in 1940. Glen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Dorothy Bailey on Dec. 13, 1947, at Ticonic United Methodist Church. To this union, they had three children, Carol and her husband, Wayne Luber, of South Sioux City, Jose and his wife, Sue Skow, of Spencer, Iowa, and Marilyn and her husband, Steve Longlee, of Ticonic; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Glen was a life-long farmer near Ticonic. He enjoyed his family, dancing and woodworking. The couple spent their winters in Arizona the last 14 years, where they developed many long standing friendships.

He was a life member of Ticonic United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and board member. He was a member of American Legion Leslie F. Seaton Post 0666 of Smithland, Iowa, and had been a director at Valley Trust Bank in Mapleton since 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 53 years; a brother, John Skow; a sister, Carrie Johnston; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many friends, neighbors and relatives.

The family has established a memorial in Glen's name.
