ONAWA, Iowa - Everett H. Nagel, 75, of rural Onawa died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m Saturday in Grant Township Cemetery, rural Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mr. Nagel was born June 11, 1923, in Sioux City, the son of Valentine Ernest and Ella (Cheeney) Nagel. He attended school in Smithland, Iowa, graduating in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, aboard the destroyer USS Owens as a gunners mate. Following his discharge, he returned to Onawa.

He married Dorothy Dahl on Sept. 10, 1948, in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed in rural Onawa until retiring in February 1986. She died Sept. 28, 1990, in Onawa.

He was a member of Onawa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2694.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Turgeon of Little Sioux, Iowa, and Nancy and her husband, Matt Gladden of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Mike and Paula of Onawa; two grandsons, Lee Turgeon and David Nagel; two brothers, Phillip of Warsaw, Mo., and Leonard and his wife, Mary of Lancaster, Calif.; a sister and her husband, Eva and Wally Hartje of McClelland, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Fred Dahl of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Lloyd; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Dahl.

Memorials may be directed to Onawa Public Library.
