TICONIC, Iowa - Ann Elizabeth Houchins, 90, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Ticonic, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Willman Funeral Chapel in Rodney, Iowa. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery, Ticonic. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel in Rodney.
Mrs. Houchins was born Oct. 10, 1909, at Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of George and Anna (Kratz) Tippens. She attended Whiting Community School until she was ten years old. The family then moved to Pukawana, S.D. She graduated from Pukawana High School in 1927.
She married Wayne Houchins on April 7, 1948, at Clarinda, Iowa. The couple moved to Ticonic in 1967. Her husband died July 16, 1972, in Onawa, Iowa.
She was employed at Burgess Hospital for over 20 years, working first as a nurses' aid and then as a ward clerk. She retired in the early 1980s.
She enjoyed baking, flowers, gardening and reading. She entered Pleasant View Care Center in December of 1998.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Verdetta A. Peterson of Marcus, Iowa; and two cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Tippens.
