Ernestine V. Lage

Ernestine V. Lage, 91, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rustin Avenue United Me-thodist Church with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery in Rodney, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lage was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest V. and Lillian Jane (West) Hagerdon. She married Cecil Dorr Johns on April 13, 1930, in Smithland. He died Dec. 3, 1953. She married Art Lage on Jan. 7, 1957. He died Nov. 27, 1975.

She grew up and attended school in Smithland. She moved to Rodney for a short while and then moved to Sioux City in 1936. She was a member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church. She was active in the ladies group, received a life membership pin from the church, and also taught Sunday school.

She was a homemaker and also was employed with Iowa Public Services. She was a member of Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge, Royal Neighbors, Amateur Organ Lodge and Scerosis and Inerse Groups.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Doree and Duane Conkey of Sioux City, and Nalene and Harry L. Paul of South Gate, Calif.; five grandchildren, Charisse Klein, Joel and Scott Conkey, Mike Linton and Harry Paul Jr.; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joel and Scott Conkey, Michael Linton, Harry Paul Jr., and Don R. Klein.
