MAPLETON, Iowa -- Wanda F. Ford, 94, of Mapleton died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery near Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Wanda Fern Ford was born June 17, 1912, in Rodney, the daughter of Loren and Lulu (Carmen) Hewitt.

She was united in marriage to Lee Ford on July 3, 1931, in Carroll, Iowa. The couple shared 57 years together and were blessed with a son, Jack. They made their home in Rodney until 1987 when they moved to Mapleton. Lee died Feb. 13, 1988.

Wanda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed time spent with family, cooking, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Jack and Grace Ford of Mapleton; a granddaughter-in-law, Joan Ford of Mapleton, wife of the late Steve Ford; five granddaughters and their husbands, Terri and Louis Reed of Castana, Iowa, Vicki and Don Dorn of Sioux City, Cathy and Les Rodenburg of Mapleton, Sandy and Howard Gripp of Hartland, Wis., and Diane and Dean Lansink of Danbury, Iowa; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her oldest grandchild and only grandson, Steve Ford; two sisters, Erma Studyvin and Retha Decker; and a brother, Claire Hewitt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mapleton Ambulance or a charity of the donor's choice
