Mrs Henrietta Knutson, a liflong resident of the Soldier and Moorhead communities, passed away Sunday, August 29, at Maple Heights in Mapleton, Iowa after many months of illness. She was 91 years, five months and 10 days of age.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the Soldier Lutheran Country Church with pastor Arnold G Mathison officiating. Mrs Harry Andersen was organist. A quartet consisting of Gene Brenden, James Severson, Gordon Foss and Stanley Hansen. sang, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and " Jesus Savior, Pilot Me."

Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Bearers were Norman H Hanson, Page Carlson, Bryce Lee, Arthur Olson, Andrew Ballantyne and William Lehmberg.

Henrietta Henriksen, daughter of Rasmus Henriksen and Johanna Maria Hansen, was born March 19, 1880 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the eldest of ten children. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Copenhagen April 11, 1880. At the age of a few weeks emigrated to America with her parents after 21 days on the ocean, arriving at New York and from there to Dunlap, Iowa, then to Monona County by wagon drawn by a team of mules. She spent all her life on the farm.

She was confirmed in Ingaman Lutheran Church west of Moorhead May 18, 1897. She taught school seven years in Monona county. On February 24, 1902 she was united in marriage to Peter C Knutson of Soldier, Iowa at the Christian parsonage in Onawa, Iowa. Rev J R Perkins officiated. To this union six children were born.

She is survived by two daughters, Genevieve M (McDole), Vera LaVonne (Wade) of Soldier; two sons, Glen L of Kewanee, Illinois and Wyland Thayer of Soldier, five sisters, Mrs Mary Brown I of Turin, Mrs Rose Hundahl of Tujunga, Calif, Mrs Celia Potts of Sioux City, Mrs Anna Bogie of California and Mrs Caroline Vestergaard of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Mary Frances; one son, Parke C her parents; one sister; three brothers, Joseph, Raymond and Carter, all who served in World War I
