Roy K Knutson was born on February 14, 1904 at Soldier, a son of Richard and Gunda Knutson, and passed from this life at a Sioux City Hospital Saturday morning, August 10 at the age of 64 years, 5 months,26 days.

He recently suffered a heart attack and entered the hospital July 24 and again on Friday of last week.

Roy had resided in Sioux City since 1942 and prior to that time had lived at Ute.

He was united in marriage to Alice Marie Strait on December 24, 1927 at Onawa. Early in life he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Soldier.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; five sons, Lyle of Ute, Roy Jr of Loomis, Calif, Raymond and Richard, both of Sioux City and Harold of San Diego, Calif; two daughters, Mrs James (Betty) McCormack of Jefferson, SD and Mrs Leon (Phyllis) Jolin of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Wilmer Knudsen of Soldier and Henry Knudsen of SIoux City; two sisters, Mrs Ernest (Leona) Klaus of Ute and Clarice Kelly of Council Bluffs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

The funeral service was held at 2p.m. Monday, August 12 at the Lutheran Church in Soldier. Pastor Harry C Sorensen officiated at the funeral. Mrs Charles Dommer Jr sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden", accompanied by Miss Vicki Lee.

Casket bearers were Brandy Riddle, Theodore Lee, Walter Clemon, Elmer Longlee, Elmer Thogerson and Basil Gibbs. Interment was in St Clair Cemetery at Ute with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier
