August Frederick Lille, was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany in 1828. Here he grew to manhood. In 1852 he came to America landing at New Orleans, moving thence up the Mississippi Valley settling first at Davenport and later moving to Camanche in Clinton County. Here he remained conducting a wagon shop for about 28 years then moved to Monona County in 1882 where he remained until his death.

He had been married twice and was the father of six children to which was added four step children by the second marriage.

Mr Lille spent his reclining days at the home of his son. Wm Lille in Mapleton.

He passed from this life Tuesday morning, Feb 10. Funeral held in M.E. Church conducted by Rev M D Bush and remains interred in the Newman Cemetery in Cooper Township
