Funeral Services Held For Mamie Ferry

Mamie Mildred Ferry, daughter of John and Lena (Rohde) Johnk, was born August 31, 1894, in Monona County near Danbury, Iowa and died Saturday, June 17, 1972 at the Morningside Manor Nursing Home at Ida Grove after a short illness. She had reached the age of 77 years, 9 months and 16 days.
Mamie lived on a farm with her parents until her marriage to Floyd Neal December 14, 1921. She married Frank Ferry October 20, 1935. He died in 1954.
Mrs Ferry had lived in the Danbury and Oto area before moving to Independence, Oregon where she lived for two years.
Upon her return to Iowa, she lived for a short time in Sioux City before moving to Ida Grove where she resided for 33 years. She had lived in Mapleton since 1959.
Mamie was baptized on September 21, 1943 in the Methodist Church at Ida Grove and since moving to Mapleton had attended the Methodist Church there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs Ray (Evelyn) Welch of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one sister Mrs Chris (Ruby) Albertson of Anthon, Iowa; three brothers, Gustave Johnk of Milo, Alberta, Canada, John Johnk of Hood River, Oregon and LeRoy Johnk of Ida Grove, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 20, 1972 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton with Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. Burial was in the Otto Cemetery near Danbury.
Pallbearers were: Lawrence Otto, Carl Johnk, Earl Otto, Matt Meier, Al Bruning and George Haase.
