Guy Charles Severson, Moorhead, died on February 3, 1987 in the Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa where he had resided the past 10 years. Death came at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 11 days.

He was born March 23, 1893 at Soldier, the son of Julius and Bertha (Nelson) Severson, a pioneer family in Monona County. He graduated from Soldier High School and attended Iowa State University. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. On September 10, 1919 he married Mida Millard at Soldier. The couple farmed in the Moorhead and Soldier area. Mrs Severson died March 4, 1972 at Onawa.

Guy was a past member of the Moorhead School Board. He was a lifetime member of Soldier Lutheran Church and a member of Peter A Hansen American Legion Post #365 of Moorhead.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond of Moorhead and Ronald of LeMars; a sister, Mrs Hazel Ibbotson of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, Glenn and Russell, a granddaughter, Ann, two sisters, Edna and Juliette and three brothers Walter , Roy and Earl.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 1987 at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, with Pastor Larry Sydow officiating. The organist was Mrs Ivan Gibbs and the soloist, Craig Swenson, sang "Behold A Host"

Casket bearers were Gregory Severson, Jeffrey Severson, James Severson, George Severson, John Severson and Thomas Hoffman.

Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Church Cemetery at Soldier with Graveside Military Services by Peter A Hansen American Legion Post #365, Moorhead, Terry Melby, Commander. Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Soldier.
