Freda M Shook, 84, Onawa, Iowa, died Friday August 9. 1996. at St Lukes Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mrs Shook was born July 15, 1912, at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Benjamin) Mathys. She graduated from Mt Marty High School in Yankton, SD in 1931. On October 29, 1932, she married Herbert Andrew Shook at Onawa. She was a homemaker and had worked for various businesses in Onawa. Mr Shook died January 2, 1982, in Onawa.

She was a member of St John's Catholic Church in Onawa and the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Onawa.

Survivors include four sons, James and wife, Sara, Harold and wife, and Fred, all of Onawa, Leo and wife, Barb of Moville, Iowa, three daughters, Patty and husband, Norman Huff of Blencoe, Helen and husband Charlie Peterson of Smithland, and Rita Harris of Yankton, SD, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marion Lawrenson of Missoula, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Herb.

A Scripture Service was at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 1996 at the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Monday, August 12, 1996 at St John's Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Mass Celebrant Father A.E. McCoy. The organist was Mrs Darrell Hewitt and the soloist, Mr. David Hausman, sang the selections, "Amazing Grace". "The Old Rugged Cross" and "You Are Mine".

Casket Bearers were Mike Huff, Randy Huff, Chris Shook, Luke Shook, Steve Peterson, Jeff Peterson, David Peterson, Robbie Harris and Ron Weber.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with arrangments by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
