Selma Helen Severson was born February 12, 1888 at Soldier. She was raised by her grandparents, Halver and Celia Severson and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial hospital July 2. Death came at the age of 77 years, four months and 18 days.

She was a lifetime resident of Monona County.

She was a professonal cook for 35 years in Onawa and was known to her friends as Johny.
May 18, 1908 she was united in marrage with Gilbert Johnson at Onawa. To this union four sons and three daughters were born. One son Joe Seral and her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Glen Floyd of Lincoln, Nebr, Maurice G of Bellingham, Wash and Russell B of Onawa; three daughters, Mrs Ellen Franks of McVille, N.D., Mrs Evelyn Johnson of Onawa and Mrs Doris Tipton of Anaheim, Calif; three brothers, Joe Nelson of Tacoma, Wash, Sam Nelson of Tapa Country, Calif and Nick Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD, a sister, Karen Griebel of Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral services was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 5 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel. Rev Everett Epperson officiated. Mrs Carl Linden was the organist. Casket bearers were Howard Myers, Vern Weaver, Walter Shearer, Orville Rutledge, Paul Jester and Jack Johnson.

Interment was in the Onawa cemetery, Arrangments were by the Pearson Funeral Home.
