Herbert Andrew Shook was born at Onawa, Iowa on August 16, 1912 and passed away at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on January 2, 1982, following a long illness. Death came at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 17 days.

He was the son of Fred Shook and Grace Moore Shook, and he lived and worked in the Onawa area all his life. On October 29, 1932, he was married to Freda Mathys at Onawa. He was a farmer, truck driver an for many years was a selfemployed mechanic. He was a member of St John's Catholic Church in Onawa and Eagles Lodge #2270 of Onawa.

Survivors include his wife, Freda, of Onawa; four sons, James, Harold and Fred all of Onawa and Leo of Castana, three daughters, Mrs Norman (Patty) Huff of Blencoe, Iowa, Mrs Charles (Helen) Peterson of Whiting, Iowa and Mrs Robbie (Rita) Harris of Onawa, seventeen grandchildren, two brothers, Donald of Castana and Ival of Las Vegas, Nev. and one sister, Mrs Edward (Lucille) Walker of Princeton, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 1982 at St John's Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Father Donald Smith Mass Celebrant. The organist was Mrs Darrell Hewitt and the soloist was David Hausman.

Casketbearers were David Cummins, Darrell Daugherty Jr, Lyle Ross, Dan Benjamin, Bert Hanson and Everett Clayton.

The Rosary was held at 8 p.m. Monday, January 4, 1982 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, Iowa

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa
