Jeffrey Thomas Shook, 28, of Onawa, Iowa, died Monday, June 9, 1996 at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa of injuries suffered on Sunday in a one-vehicle accident near Castana, Iowa

Jeffrey was born April 9, 1968, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Elaine (Rose) Shook. He graduated from West Monona HIgh School in 1987. Following graduation he served in the US Navy and Navy Reserve and then was employed at S & H Drilling in Onawa.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa, Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2694, the Onawa Bowling League, Pleasants Forever, and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and car racing.

Survivors include his parents, Tom and Elaine Shook of Onawa; a sister, Julee Shook of Onawa, grandparents, Dorothy Rose of Mapleton, Mary Shook of Onawa and Ival Shook of Castana; a nephew, Austin Kirkpatrick of Onawa; aunts and uncles, Buzz and Anita Schelm of Mapleton, Phyllis and Larry Johnson of Albuquerque, NM, Betty and Bob Haltermen of Sergeant Bluff, Ia, Joan Allen of Onawa and Nancy and Steve Ost of Omaha, NE; cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marion Rose.

Memorial Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 1996, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Pastor Donald R Ludwick officiating. The organist, Mrs Vince Phillips, accompanied the soloist, Mr Jim Williams in the selection "You'll Never Walk Alone". The congregational sang "Just A Closer Walk With Thee".

Honorary Bearers were Tony Allen, Tom Allen, David Ost, Brett Schelm, Brian Schelm and Bruce Schelm.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with Military Services by the Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post #2694, Onawa, Gordon Conway, Commander.
Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
