Donald Woodrow Shook, 80, of Onawa, Ia, formely of Castana, Ia, died Thursday, December 29, 1994, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

He was born July 6, 1914, near Onawa, the son of Fred and Grace (Moore) Shook. He attended country school near Onawa. On December 18, 1937, he married Vera Marie Maynard at Onawa. He engaged in farming, moving to a farm near Castana in 1965. The couple moved to Castana in 1966. Mrs Shook died July 9, 1989 at Castana. Donald had resided at Elmwood Care Centre the past four years.

Survivors include two sons, John and his wife, Gail of Omaha, NE and Don and his wife, Kay, of Jamestown, ND; two daughters, Cherly and her husband, Ken Smith of Onawa and Deb and her husband, Wayne Sadler of Correctionville, Ia; fourteen grandchildren, JoAnn Nichols, Cindy DeLanoy, Dawn, John and Chelsea and Christopher Shook, Brian Shook, Mike and Grant Smith and Jasyn, Jerisa, Derek, Devon and Julianna Sadler; eight great grandchildren, Courtney, Brittany, Caitlin Nichols; Michael and Bridget, Jeffrey and Theresa DeLanoy and Kiara Shook-Martinez; and one brother, Ival Shook of Castana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant son; an infant daughter, Deanna; two brothers, Harold and Herbert; and four sisters, Bernice, Helen, Mildred and Lucille.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 1994 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, IA with Rev Donald Ludwick officiating. The organist was Mrs Thomas Frank and the soloist, Mrs Ronald Maynard sang, "His Eye Is On The Sparrow".

Casket bearers were Jim Shook, Harold Shook, Leo Shook, Tom Shook, Gordon Conway and Richard Mock.
Interment was in Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
