ONAWA, Iowa -- August Koster, 97, of Onawa died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Steven C. Hetzel officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mr. Koster was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Waterbury, Neb., the son of Bernard and Carolina (Kruse) Koster. He attended Waterbury Country School.
On Feb. 18, 1932, he married Bertha Lang in Wayne, Neb. He farmed north of Onawa until retiring in 1973 and moved to Turin. The couple moved to Onawa in 1993 and he had been a resident of Elmwood Care Centre for four years.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha of Onawa; a daughter, Delores Woody of Erwinville, La.; two sons and their wives, Duane and Lillian Koster of Erwinville, and Dwight and Mary Koster of Currie, Minn.; eight grandsons; two granddaughters; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was the last of his family and was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, a granddaughter, two great-grandsons and a son-in-law.
