ONAWA, Iowa -- Mary Jane Persinger, 95, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Onawa, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Amelia House in Council Bluffs.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Michael Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Persinger was born July 10, 1908, in Monona County, Iowa, the daughter of Manny and Rose (Stevens) Swesey. She graduated from Blencoe (Iowa) High School, then took nurses training at Methodist Hospital in Sioux City and became a registered nurse. She did private nursing and also worked at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
On June 6, 1936, she married Ross Persinger in Onawa. He died Jan. 9, 1983, in Onawa. She lived in Onawa for more than 20 years before moving to Amelia House in June 1999.

She was a member of First Christian Church.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
