BLENCOE, Iowa -- Larry E. Ruffcorn, 57, of Blencoe died suddenly Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Elder Don Bothwell officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Cemetery, Little Sioux, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Larry was born March 20, 1946, at Little Sioux, the son of Harold E. and Viola (Jones) Ruffcorn. He graduated from West Monona High School in 1964.
He married Barbara Kay Melby on July 10, 1967, in South Dakota. Barbara passed away Aug. 30, 1996. He later married Kristie Burgess on Aug. 16, 1997, in Blencoe.

He was a lifelong farmer. He and his brother were partners in Ruffcorn Bros. Pioneer Seed for 17 years. For the past five years, he and his wife, Kristie, owned and operated TR's Convenience.

Larry was a volunteer fireman for the Blencoe Fire Department and a member of the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Kristie; his children, Chad and his wife, Laura of Little Sioux, and Andrea and Ethan Burgess, both of Blencoe; his mother, Viola of Nebraska City, Neb.; a brother and his wife, Jim and Diane Ruffcorn of Little Sioux; a sister and her husband, Nancy Ruffcorn and Paul Ballinger of Hamburg, Iowa; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dean and Ginny Major of Blencoe; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his first wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason; and his father, Harold.
