RODNEY, Iowa -- Gladys May Haakinson, 77, a longtime resident of Rodney died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital. She had been in failing health for three years.

There will be no services. The body has been cremated. Private family graveside services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Willman Funeral Chapel in Rodney.

Gladys was born in New Market, England, on Feb. 13, 1926, the daughter of John Thomas and Ethel May (Pleasant) Hogg. She attended school in England.
She married Wayne Clarence Haakinson on July 10, 1944, in England. She came to the United States with her husband and they made their home in Rodney. She was a homemaker and worked at the Rodney Senior Center for 22 years.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Veronica and Greg Bohall of Newton, Iowa; three sons, Derek Haakinson and his wife, Teresa of Claremore, Okla., Trevor Haakinson and his wife, Connie of Dubuque, Iowa, and Eric Haakinson of Rodney; four grandchildren, Dynette Majors of Lenexa, Kan., Deanna Smith of Edwardsville, Kan., Joshua Haakinson of Denver, Colo., and Casey Haakinson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a brother, John Hogg of England.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne in 1993; and a sister.
