MAPLETON, Iowa -- Mae Plagge, 95, of Mapleton died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mae Bartels Plagge was born May 18, 1907, on a farm near Mapleton, the daughter of Frederick and Maggie (Radden) Bartels. She was baptized on June 23, 1907, and confirmed March 20, 1921, all at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
She married Adolph Plagge on Sept. 19, 1926, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. The lived on various farms in the Mapleton area. For many years, she enjoyed her cream and egg route in Mapleton. In 1974 she moved to her home in Mapleton, and in 1995 moved to Maple Heights Nursing Home.

She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She also was a member of Ladies Aid, Thursday Club and Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a son and his wife, LaVern and Mary of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Isabel Plagge of Fremont, Neb.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adolph; a son, Fredric; three brothers, Irvin, Ray and Ferris; and a sister, Myrtle Plagge.

Pallbearers will be Mike, Craig and Tim Plagge, Peggy Tomes, Heidi Pope and Patty Turner. Honorary pallbearer will be Ronald Scheis.

Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
