Miss Bertha Heiden, a lifetime resident of Onawa, passed away at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on Wednesday, January 12, 1972 following a long illness. She had reached the age of 90 years, 7 months and 4 days.

She was born at Onawa on June 8, 1881 and for many years was a telephone operator for the Northwestern Bell Telephone. For the past several years she had been a resident of the Elmwood Nursing home. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors are three nephews, Carl Jacobson, DesMoines, Iowa' Donald Jacobson, Glenwood, Iowa and Kenneth Jacobson, Blencoe, Iowa.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 14, 1972 at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa with Pastor Gerald Gundersen officiating. Mrs. Dan Hyatt was the organist. Bearers were Curt Hoffman, Marry Hoffman, Jim Craford, Gunnar Olson, Hermann Giermann and Merle Mock.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
