Mrs. George F. (Elma) Lineburg, 75, a longtime resident of the Churches Ferry, N.D. community passed away Friday morning, March 31, 1972 in Mercy Hospital.

Mrs. Lineburg was born September 29, 1896 at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Reed and Nan Williams Fletcher. She was educated in the Onawa schools and was married in Onawa to Frank Cockerton on November 27, 1913. For many years she was the district representative for Avon products.

On September 13, 1943, she was married to George F. Lineburg at Omaha, Nebr. Following their marriage they farmed in Chain Lakes Township north of Churches Ferry until his death in August 1961. For the past 2 years she has been a resident of the Lake Region Lutheran Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, W.S.C.S. of the Church, the Irvin Homemakers and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include 1 son, Lyle Cockerton of Whiting, Iowa; 3 stepdaughters, Mrs. Knute (Edna) Lee of Albuguerque, N.M.; Mrs. Frank (Doris) Phipps of Pleasanton, Calif. and Mrs. Charles N. (Jane) Bennington of Churches Ferry; 1 brother, Loyd Fletcher of Onawa; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, April 3 in the United Methodist Church in Churches Ferry with the Rev. James R. Hulat officiating and under the directions of the Gilbertson Funeral Home of Devils Lake, N.D. A second service was held at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 1972 with the Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Gilbert Smith sang, "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Clara Kelley. Bearers were Lloyd Fiscus, Donald Baker, Orville Johnson, Donnie Anderson, Glen Funkhouser and Alton Morton. Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery near Whiting with the Pearson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
