Gertrude C. Seaton of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away at the age of 70 years in Lafayette, Ind. on Sunday, February 27, 1972.
She was born on January 8, 1902, the daughter of Henry and Julie Gibbel in Sioux City, Iowa. On June 7, 1922 she was united in marriage to Ernest E. Seaton at Onawa, Iowa. They lived in the Soldier area a number of years before moving to Lafayette and LaPorte.
She was a graduate of Morningside College at Sioux City, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1956. She received her Masters Degree at Pardue College in 1960 and had been a teacher for the past 27 years.
She was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa.
Survivors inclyde her husband, Ernest E. Seaton of LaPorte; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Phillis) Isaacs of West Lafayette, Ind. and Mrs. Milton (Avis) Chapman of Vancouver, Wash.; three sons, Gail Seaton of Lafayette, Ind., Duane Seaton of Omaha, Nebr. and Roger Seaton of LaPorte, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Petersen of Chicago, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 1972 at the Lutheran Church in Soldier, Iowa with Pastor Arnold Mathisen officiating. Mrs. Bernard Berens sang, "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" accompanied by Mrs. Harry Andersen. Bearers were Arnold Amundson, Clifford Seaton, Eugene Sexton, Isaac Swenson, Adolph Swenson and William Lehmberg.
Interment was in the Lutheran Church Cemetery at Soldier with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier.
