Ray N. Kennedy was born April 20, 1900 at Sac City, Iowa and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa on January 30, 1972. Death came at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 10 days.

He was united in marriage with Dorothy Hanks on December 17, 1938 at Elk Point, S.D. He had been a resident of Onawa most of his lifetime. Ray worked as a carpenter on the building of the Lutheran Hospital and The Swift Packing Plant both in Sioux City. He served for a number of years as foreman on the Section Crew of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, retiring a few years ago.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Onawa, and was baptized November 20, 1968.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Onawa; two sons, William and Duane both of Onawa; two grandsons, and one brother, George Kennedy of Ida Grove, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by twim daughters, Jane and Janette, and four sisters, Eva, Esther, Mae and Hazel.

Services were held at First Christian Church in Onawa at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 1972 with Rev E.E. Epperson officiating. Soloist was Mr. Magnus Jepson who sang "More Love To Thee" and "Beyond The Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Magnus Jepson. Casket bearers were Charles Riley, Mike Smith, Thad Allen, Johny Wallace, Amos Poole and Delbert VonEhwegen. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery. The Pearson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
