Mrs. Gladys A. Johnson, 71, passed away at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa on Saturday, January 29, 1972. Death came following a brief illness.
She was born March 26, 1900 at Blencoe, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Agnes Rock McGrill and had lived in the Blencoe area her entire lifetime.
On March 14, 1928 she was united in marriage with Harold K. Johnson and to this union one son and one daughter were born.
She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ of Blencoe, the Auxiliary of the Stevens-Kelley Post No. 665 American Legion of Blencoe and the Eagles Auxiliary of Onawa. She had been employed in the Crom Cafe for 18 years before the cafe closed a few years ago.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Hutchenson of North Sioux City, SD; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Harold, one son Thomas and four brothers.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 31, 1972 at the United Church of Christ Congregational at Blencoe, Iowa with the Rev. William C. Bessmer officiating. Clara Kelley was the organist. Bearers were Perry Thrift, Fred Heisler, Robert Comfort, Raymond Hoffman, Fred Bryan and Glen Walker.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.
