9 March 1972Clyde Everett Patterson, Sloan, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 1972 at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa following and illness of several months, He had reached the age of 89 years, 7 months and 27 days.
He was born at Atlantic, Iowa on June 25, 1882, the son of Lewis and Maie Squires Patterson.
On December 23, 1908, he was united in marriage with Minerva Lucinda Abel. Mr. Patterson chose farming as his vocation and followed this work until his retirement a number of years ago. The family had lived in the Sloan-Hornick area for some 55 years.Survivors are three sons, Clarence of Salix, Iowa, Roy of Sloan, Iowa and Lewis of Covina, Calif; one daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Murle) Larson, Sloan; one sister, Mrs. Everett (Gladys) Wright, Sloan and one brother, Floyd Patterson of Skidmore, Mo. There are 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren as well as a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minerva, on October 1, 1971.Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 1972 at the Wood Chapel in Sloan, with Rev. Father John Patterson officiating. Cheryl and Betty Andrews gave comfort in song, accompanied by Beverly Roarson. Casket bearers were Michael Patterson, Phillip Patterson, David Patterson, Douglas Patterson, Norman Westergaard and Kenneth Chicoine.
Interment was in the Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home of Whiting and Sloan.
