Johanna Larsen, a former resident of Onawa passed away at Kansas City, Mo. on Saturday, October 30, 1971 following a long illness. She had reached the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 20 days.

She was born at Ransom, Ill. on December 10, 1898, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Hardy Danifer. She was united in marriage to Melvin (Dane) Larsen at Onawa, Iowa on August 8, 1918 and the family lived in the Onawa community until 1954, when they moved to Missouri. During the years in Onawa, Mr. Larsen took part in community activities and was greatly interested in the youth of the community and their welfare.
Survivors are her husband, Dane; one daughter, Mary Virginia Golueke of Falls Church, Va.; two sons, Fred Larsen of Menneapolis, Minn. and Jack Larsen of Annandale, Va., one sister, Mrs. James Boyle of Ambay, Ill., 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The roseary was given at 8:15 p.m. Monday, November 1 at the Pearson Funeral Home with Father Thomas K. Molloy officiating. The funeral mass was held at St. John's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 1971 with Father Thomas K. Molloy officiating.

Bearers were Pat Brau, Henry Roelsgaard, Joe Stangel, Ray Low, Sr., N.E. Williams and Robert Underhill. Interment was in the ONawa Cemetery with the Pearson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
