Axel Lund, 83, Soldier, Iowa passed away Saturday January 1, 1972 at a Sioux City hospital following a lonf illness.

He was born in Denmark on April 23, 1888 and had lived in the Soldier area since 1912. He had farmed most of his adult life until retiring several years ago.

On June 6, 1918, he was united in marriage with Martha Stoll at Charter Oak, Iowa. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a few relatives in Denmark and some distant relatives by marriage in this area. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday January 3, 1972 at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, Iowa with pastor Gerald Gunderson officiating. Mrs. Loren Riddle and Mrs. Dan Hyatt sang, "Abide With Me," and "How Great Thou Art," accompanied by Clara Kelley at the organ. Bearers were Raymond Sievers, Arthur Meseck, Rudolph Meseck, Henry Meseck, Walter Meseck and Harry Andersen..

Interment was in the Jordan Cemetery near Soldier under the direction of the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
