Norman R. Green, 75, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Harrisburg United Methodist Church in Harrisburg, S.D. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Little Sioux Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Norman Royce Green, the son of Scott A. and Ora (Lucas) Green, was born in Oto, Iowa, on Oct. 15, 1931. He grew up and received his education in Brooten, Minn. Following his graduation in 1950, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 22, 1954.

He was united in marriage to Doris Pearson on March 31, 1956 in Mapleton, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Sioux City until moving to Sioux Falls in 1977. In 1956, he began his 37-year career at Crescent Electric, where he worked inside sales and quotations. He retired in 1992. He then managed Western Heights Apartments for 11 years.

He was a member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 15. He received the Golden Rule Award and the Jefferson Award for Community Service. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 40-plus years and received the Silver Beaver Award.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Doris of Sioux City; his children, JanDee Green-Johnson (Rodney Johnson) of Bellingham, Wash., Perry (Mary Sue) Green of Ames, Iowa, Kimberly Beth Hiemstra of Woonsocket, S.D., and Vincent (Pam) Green of Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
