OMAHA, Neb. -- Connie J. Rush, 52, of Omaha was called home to heaven Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Nebraska University Medical Center in Omaha after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7706 S. 96th St., LaVista, Neb., with the Rev. Tim Heupel officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Tim Heupel officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Connie Jean was born May 23, 1955, in Gordon, Neb., to Eleanor Jean (Myers) and W. Donald Moore. She was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Gordon and confirmed her faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Neb.

She graduated in 1973 from Clay Center High School and received her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska in 1988. She worked in the offices of Eagle Construction Co. and Rembolt Ludtke in Lincoln, Neb. In 1988, she became an accountant with the University of Nebraska Central Admission. She was promoted to the role of budget and fiscal analyst and then manager of Payroll and Cashiering at UNMC. For the past eight years, she was the division director UNMC for Payroll, Benefits and Records. One of her goals, which she proudly achieved, was to reach her 20-year work anniversary with the University of Nebraska.

On March 10, 2001, she was united in marriage to Dennis M. Rush in Albaton, Iowa.

She enjoyed attending NASCAR races with Denny and loved spending time at their lake house in The Ozarks. Her friends were very important to her. Over the years, she cultivated friendships with people in all walks of life.

She is survived by her husband, Denny of Omaha; her mother, Eleanor Moore of York, Neb.; her parents-in-law, Douglas and Doris Rush of Sioux City; a stepson, Jason Rush of Wauzeka, Wis.; a brother and his wife, Roger and Janice Moore of Lincoln, Neb.; two nieces and their husbands, Jenny and Brad Morehead of Evanston, Ill., and Katie and Mike Lyon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents.

Memorials will go to UNMC for cancer research.
