MAPLETON, Iowa -- Pam Pilecki, 59, of Mapleton passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Sandy Webster officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Pam was born on Feb. 5, 1947, the daughter of Ruth Cipperley. Pam attended Western Iowa Tech Community College and later Briar Cliff University in Sioux City.
On May 14, 1982, she married Fred Pilecki at the Church of All Nations in Sioux City. Pam worked for several years as a cook in the area. She most recently worked for Maier Family Pharmacy in Mapleton and was known affectionately as the "drug runner," delivering medicines to customers in a car known as the "drug bug." A few years ago, Pam expressed interest in owning a motorcycle. For her anniversary in 2005, Fred bought her one, and they rode it to Estes Park in Colorado, once. They bought several other motorcycles, the last having a side car.

Pam was severely abused as a child, which led to alcoholism, and by the grace of God and the fellowship of a 12-step program, she was transformed. Pam was afflicted with four bouts of cancer during the past 19 years.

She was a member of United Methodist Church. She was a past president of the Mapleton Rotary, a member of the Sioux City Lioness Club and the Mapleton Red Hatters. She was active in the church in many areas, especially as chair of the mission committee. She made improvements in the Adopt a Family Christmas Program, she started an adult Bible class at Ticonic United Methodist Church and taught the ladies inter-denominational Bible study class.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Fred Pilecki of Mapleton; two sons, Marvin "Curly" Timmerman of Sioux City and Philip Timmerman and his wife, Audrey, of Sioux City; three daughters, Angie and her husband, A.J. Baier of Sioux City, Melody Pilecki of Sioux City and Leah Pope of Des Moines; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her brother, Brian Cipperley; and a son, Scott Pilecki.

Memorials may be made in Pam's memory to a scholarship fund for the Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis, in care of St. John's or Ticonic UMC
