MAPLETON, Iowa -- Ardis L. Wilson, 66, of Mapleton died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Dr. Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Persia, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Ardis Lorayne Wilson was born in the Mapleton area on Aug. 9, 1940, the daughter of Ernest Walter Frederick and Frances (Herrington) Koeppen. At the age of five, her family moved to Brooks, Alberta, Canada, where they lived for six years before returning to Mapleton. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1958.
She was joined in marriage on Feb. 6, 1960, to James William Wilson. She was a homemaker for her husband, Jim, and their three girls for 23 years before looking outside the home for work. She enjoyed her work as the secretary for Tri-Center Elementary School in Neola, Iowa for many years. After the passing for her husband on Jan. 7, 1996, she returned to Mapleton and worked as a medical transcriptionist at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Valerie (Jim) Plambeck of Indianola, Iowa, Teresa (Randy) Coenen of Harlan, Iowa, and Angela (Deke) Rife of Logan, Iowa; her mother, Frances Herrington Koeppen of Mapleton; a sister, Zola (Wayne) Kafton of Mapleton; a brother, Larry Koeppen of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilson; her father, Ernest Walter Frederick Koeppen; her father-in-law, Joseph Leonard Wilson; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Points Wilson and Beverly Green Koeppen.

Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association of Iowa.
