ONAWA, Iowa -- Richard L. "Dick" Reynolds, 72, of Onawa died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Mike Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. conducted by Vesper Lodge 223 A.F. & A.M., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Dick was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Onawa, the son of Edward and Helen (Neal) Reynolds. He graduated from Onawa High School in 1948.

He married Naomi J. Harper on March 23, 1949, in Onawa. He was a lifelong farmer and also founder of KOA Kampground in Onawa. The couple enjoyed wintering in Texas. Mrs. Reynolds passed away April 26, 2002.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa, where he served as board chairman and as a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Vesper Lodge 223 A.F. & A.M. He served as a 4-H leader and was a board member of KOA Kampground Owners and on the West Monona School board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, trapping and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah and her husband, Lowell Phelps, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Janet Shatswell of Onawa and Sandra and her husband, David Robinson, of Castle Rock, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Jolene Reynolds of Onawa; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his father-in-law, Bernard Harper of Onawa; two brothers, Bill and his wife, Phyllis Reynolds, and Steve all of Onawa; four sisters, Vivian and her husband, Don Randall, of Columbus, Ohio, Beulah and her husband, Leonard Miller, Nancy Schallau and Mary and her husband, Joe Kramer, all of Onawa; a half sister and her husband, Janette and Raymond Yates of Ogden, Utah; a sister-in-law and her husband, Marilyn and Roger Hocking of Oceanside, Calif.

In addition to his wife, Naomi, he was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard "Rick"; his mother-in-law, Wilma Harper; and a son-in-law, Cole B. Shatswell Jr.
