ONAWA, Iowa -- Winona Sylvia Olson, 85, of Onawa died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Community of Christ Church in Onawa, with High Priest Dale Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Winona was born March 4, 1917, the daughter of William and Blanch (Struble) Aitken. She married Edward Olson on June 1, 1940. She taught country school for five years and for 25 years at Castana/Maple Valley School.

She was a member of Community of Christ Church and Neighborhood Pal's Club.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Daniel and Cheryl of Grundy Center; four grandchildren, Sean Olson and his wife, Michelle of Omaha, Donne O'Malley and her husband, Dan of Hudson, Iowa, Ryan Olson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Kyle Olson of Mason City, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Zachary Olson, both of Omaha, and Erin O'Malley of Hudson, Iowa (she was soon to be a great-grandma to a fourth baby in December); and two sisters, Wilda Erickson and her husband, Robert of Castana, Iowa, and Juanita Reckoff of Onawa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; and three sisters, Wanda Olson, Wyma Knoff and Letty Hammer.

Memorials may be directed to Community of Christ Church in Onawa.
