ONAWA, Iowa -- Rogene Kornet Eisele, 70, of Onawa died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Onawa Cemetery, with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Rogene was born Oct. 8, 1931 near Onawa, the son of Orville J. and Maria (English) Eisele. He graduated from Blencoe High School in 1949.

He was married to Myrna Joann Stevenson on Aug. 4, 1950, at Onawa. He farmed with his father for 18 years and then worked on road construction with Irving F. Jensen Company until his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Onawa and a former member of the Eagles and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Rogene loved his family, friends, fishing and playing cards. He accepted his illness with strength and courage, never complained and had a smile for everyone who came to see him.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Michael and his wife, Elaine Eisele of Onawa; a daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Jaimie Murray of Onawa; two grandsons, Rory Eisele of Bremerton, Wash., and Ryan Eisele, a student at Iowa State University; two granddaughters, Jordyn and Shayla Murray of Onawa; many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Ronald Lee.
