MAPLETON, Iowa -- Norman N. Uhl, 63, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Mapleton, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Church in Council Bluffs, with the Rev. Chuck Kottas officiating. Burial will be in Ute Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. today, with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs.

Norman was born Nov. 4, 1938, in Mapleton, the son of William Jr. and Mary (Flamming) Uhl. He farmed in Mapleton before moving to Council Bluffs, where he started Norm's Heating and Air Conditioning business.

He married Sharon Torgerson.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Tammy and her husband, Todd Frank of Neola, Iowa, and Melissa and her husband, Kenny Gwennap of Council Bluffs; two sons, Larry and his wife, Heather of Omaha, Neb., and Terry and his wife, Renita of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy and her husband, Bud Fester of Sioux City, Dolores and her husband, Louie Wadrich of Sioux City, and Mary Ann and her husband, Russ Howland of Council Bluffs.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Uhl's name to Thomas Jefferson High School football and soccer programs.
