ONAWA, Iowa -- Charles F. Zeller, 85, formerly of Oxnard, Calif., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at an Onawa, Iowa, nursing home.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Cahill of First Christian Church in Onawa officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation with the family will be 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Zeller was born June 14, 1916, in Avon, Pa., the son of Fred A. and Ethel S. (Sanders) Zeller. He graduated from high school and received a degree from college. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, and after retiring from the military, he was employed as an escrow officer with various financial companies.

He married Carole E. Hattig on May 10, 1970, in San Diego, Calif. She died April 19, 2000, in Oxnard.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn A. Nadler of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Jack S. Zeller of Rockville, Md.; a sister, Nancy Bastian of Gulf Shores, Ala.; grandchildren, Darla Cummins of Whiting, Iowa, and Dana Beach of Dakota City; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and McKormick Cummins, Theresa, Michael and Dominic Beach; a brother-in-law, Leo Hattig of Weslaco, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Frances Burwell of Camarillo, Calif.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; three stepsons, Charles Jr., Robert and Gary Harder; and a stepdaughter, Jeanette.
