ONAWA, Iowa - Mary K. Ruble, 92, of Onawa died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Faith Lutheran Hospital. The Rev. Steven C. Hetzel officiated. Burial was in Onawa City Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Ruble was born June 12, 1909, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of James Z. and Katherine (Fisher) Culver. She was employed as a switchboard operator with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Davenport.

She married Merle E. Ruble on Aug. 8, 1936, in Davenport. The couple lived in various Iowa communities before moving to Onawa in 1939. She was a homemaker and employed as a cook and baker with the West Monona School District for 16 years. Her husband died Dec. 24, 1974, in Onawa. She recently entered the Floyd House in Sergeant Bluff.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed baking, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Jim and Mary of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter and her husband, Frances Rae "Frankie" and Bob Tholl of Orion, Ill.; five grandchildren, Tom, Tim and Todd Tholl, Heidi Ruble and Heather Wilkie; five great-grandchildren; and three nephews.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Paul; a sister, Frances; and a great-grandchild.
