UTE, Iowa - Gary Allen Timm, 57, of Ute died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, with the Rev. Ken Baughman officiating. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Timm was born July 21, 1944, in Ute, the son of Kermit and Elsie (Bastman) Timm. He attended Lutheran school until the fifth grade and then Ute Public School. He farmed with his father from 1959 to 1962.

He married Valerie Husted on Oct. 22, 1961. In 1962, he was employed with Schrader Brothers and in 1963, with Gus and Eldon Goslar. In 1976, he became employed with Berne Co-op as fertilizer and chemical applicator. He also sprayed for Farmers Co-op. He retired in 1999 and moved to Ute.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and carpentry.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Lana and Charles Hookman of Ute; a son and his wife, Larry and Sharlene of Carroll, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Jirami, Aaron and Allison; a brother and his wife, Orville and Kay of Lexington, Neb.; a sister and her husband, Shirley and Walter Wardell of Callender, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Barb Timm of Ute.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald.
